If you want to explore the surrounding area it is possible to rent a bike at the campsite.
"We are Linda and Ed Steiger. We have been living on the Maasakker for a while. After, 39 years in the army, it was time for a change for Ed. Starting a campsite had always been a dream. There is an increasing demand to go camping in the original way. But also, the bikes have become better, the camping equipment is more beautiful, lighter and more comfortable. In addition, the municipality of Oss realized that they have a very beautiful piece of nature here and they wanted to develop this area for travellers. There was still a need for a small-scaled accommodation and this is how we started our campsite. The campsite represents peace and the beauty of nature. This is what we promise and what people get. I hope to welcome true tent-campers at our campsite and hope they will enjoy the campfire.''
It is very easy to walk from the campsite into the little town of Megen, which is an authentic city with a street pattern from the Middle Ages. The Maasakker is also a perfect location for walking and cycling tours through the beautiful surroundings of Megen. You can enjoy the typical landscape that is formed by the river Maas. With the pontoons 'de Maasveren', you can go back and forth between Brabant and Gelderland to visit both provinces. During a cycling tour in the area, the history of old fortifications comes back to life. The route takes you along the Maas where impressive castles, fortresses and bunkers can be found.
